Dear Friends and Family

What an amazing time we had on our missionary trip.

We wish that we could get together with each of you to personally relay all of the memories that are sitting in our hearts right now. You would definitely find the stories to be compelling.

With a language barrier obviously present between us and the Guatemalan people, one thing was understood: we were there to extend love. Each moment was astounding and beautiful, and surpassed what we imagined it would be. Our purpose was definitely fulfilled: We loved on so many people...we served others with gladness...we offered hope to the desolate...we distributed many clothes and toys...and we scratched many mosquito bites.

Although it was a bit of a culture shock being in Guatemala, returning to the states proved to be a greater one. Immediately we were having guilty pleasures (paved roads, air condition, knowing we would soon have access to a washing machine and dryer, and could flush the toilet!). We are a country so rich that even our definition of poor is perceived as substantial comfort to many throughout the Latin American Countries. We have access to an abundant amount of resources, and are able to indulge in "things" that will never be tangible to those who abide in third world countries.

While in Guatemala...

Our hearts were touched.

Our compassion towards the needy grew even more.

Our connection with the people was truly astounding and unforgettable.

We were sad to go.

Our heartwarming experience was captured in many images that we will be sharing with you very soon. Although we went into hospitals and jails, we refrained from taking photographs in those locations as to respect the individuals and their personal space.

We thank you for being a part of our lives and thank you all of the support and prayers that you sent our way as we ventured to Central America. We are already anticipating where God will have us go next. Right now, we're thinking a return trip to Guatemala!

With Love,

Jessica & Dele
